FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If you have a question that's not so frequent and you don't see it below, let us know!
So what do you do at the party?
It’s hard to give an exact answer to this question as every party is different (that’s what happens when you work with kids!) but in a nutshell we do games and activities with the children that are themed to the age group, the character, the number of children and the venue. Call us and we can run through the options and prices for your party.
If it’s raining we go inside and do more movement, music and balloon games rather than outside games. If the rain does stop for a bit, we get straight back outside again.
So how does this work exactly?
It's easy! Just contact us with a time, place and character for your child’s party. We'll call you back with a few more questions (how many kids are attending, how old are they, etc.), but nothing too complicated. Then after we’ve chatted about everything you’d like we'll send you an invoice. On the morning of the party we’ll call again just to check in on final details, then at the agreed upon time and the agreed upon place, your superhero will arrive for a super party!
How will we know when the entertainer has arrived?
Your entertainer will call you from outside the party to let you know that he/she has arrived and is ready to start the show. They will generally ask for a parent to come outside to help facilitate the entrance. This is very important as it can set the tone of the party.
We always try to make a big entrance at the party to set the tone – we are superheroes after all! Whether it be bounding over a fence or jumping out of a tree we like to start the party with some excitement. Safety is paramount though, so while we won’t guarantee to climb any flagpoles, we will start the party right!
What areas do you work in? Do you charge extra for working outside of these areas?
We work all over the Los Angeles area. For us that can mean anywhere from Beverly Hills, Glendale, Studio City, Burbank, Loz Feliz, Sliver Lake, Little Armenia, East Hollywood, Echo Park, Lincoln Heights, Montecito Heights. Glassell Park, El Sereno to The Valley. Suburbs outside of this area may be charged an extra travel fee.
The easy answer is ‘As much as possible! ‘However, every area (backyard, park) is different. This relates to the number of children, as 10 kids don’t need much space but 25 kids need lots!
The more the merrier! We've successfully navigated parties of up to 30+ kids. The way we structure our show is based on a group size, venue, character and number of children. As a rule, we recommend around 15 kids for an hour-long party, 20 for 75 minutes, and 25 kids for a 90 minute party. More than this we recommend either two hours or two characters. However, this is dependent also on the age group and the size of the area we will be in. If the group size is too large, it can become difficult to coordinate and our performance may suffer as a result.
When should the entertainer arrive?
We generally recommend arriving 15-30 minutes after the party has started. This gives everyone time to arrive and also allows for the children to get hyped. Then when we arrive it’s straight into the action rather than stopping the game every time a new child arrives. Plus, there is nothing worse than arriving at the same time as a child and they see you without the mask/full costume. It takes the excitement right out of the show.
When should we serve the food?
We will have a break every 15-20 minutes (we are dealing with young children here!) so that can be a good time to put some snacks out. Generally though we will try to keep the show going and leave the food until the end. If you would like to serve a meal during the show, please tell us before and we can structure the show around it!
We have prizes for all the children (stickers and balloons) and a present for the birthday boy/girl.
Do you have lolly bags for the children?
No, due to allergies etc we try to have as little as possible to do with food. Super Parties takes no responsibility for the food provided/consumed at the event.
We try to do the cake at the end of the show as the photographs, cake and prizes all work well together. It can be hard to get all the kids together in one spot so we usually try to do it all at once!
What age groups do you cater for?
We mostly cater for children aged 3-12 years. That being said, we go out of our way to make sure our parties are fun for kids of all ages, from 1-100.
What are some games that I can do with the kids before/after your show?
Unless you ask us to, we generally don’t do games like piñata’ or pass the parcel. These games are simple and can work well before or after your entertainer.
What happens if the children are scared of the entertainer?
While not a regular thing, this does happen. Where possible, we ask that the parent stay with the child while we interact with both of them. When the child sees that the parent is OK with the character that usually calms them down. If not then they can watch for a few minutes. When that child sees the other children having fun with the character they generally come around.
Will both boys and girls be interested in the show? I have both at my party.
Yes, the idea is that we do games and activities that all the children at the party can enjoy as a group.
We aim to tailor the party to you, therefore our prices change depending on many things such as the character, time, place, and the number of children etc. Call us and we can run through the options and prices for your party.
How much is a party and how do I pay?
Parties run $170 for an hour performance, and are first come, first serve. Upon booking we ask for a minimum of half the full fee as a deposit, via Pay Pal (don't worry, it's quick and safe) or credit card. This payment is final confirmation of your timeslot, so we ask that you pay as soon as possible to lock down your slot. If there is a scheduling conflict between two requests, we'll make every effort to notify you in advance, but ultimately the client who pays first will be awarded the time slot. The full remainder balance of the fee can be paid 48hours before your party via Pay Pal or Credit Card or On the day of the event we ONLY accept cash.
Is there a cancellation charge?
If you cancel the show within one week of the event date there is a 50% cancellation charge and within 24 hours it is 100%. Rescheduling of a show due to illness etc incurs a 20% fee on top of the show cost.
All you need to provide is a) kids, 2) A some space to play and entertain.
Why do you ask for so many phone numbers?
So that we can contact you on the day! We understand that you have a lot on your mind during the party and may not always have the phone nearby. So we ask for the number of someone else who will be there on the day that can help us get going.
If there are any changes, how can we contact you on the day?
You can call us on 323 891 65 38 with any changes you have.
Do you need us to do anything?
If possible, we try to get the parents involved. This really helps the kids settle into the party – if they see the parents enjoying themselves, they will too. This is especially important for younger children (3-4 years old). We usually ask the parents to be involved in the first couple of games just to get things started.
Subject to availability, and if its not too last minute.
Are you qualified childminders?
No, we are not qualified as supervisors or childminders. We at Super Parties are entertainers, not babysitters. Our aim is to entertain the children with fun and games, and our main focus is on the birthday child. Therefore we ask that at all times there be proper supervision for all the children.
Do all your characters do the same show?
No, the show changes according to the character/theme and the ages of the children. The basic idea though is that we do games and activities that are simple to understand and involve all the children at once.
Hundreds! Check the references page on the website or ask us and we’ll be happy to give you the name/number of one of our many happy customers!
How far in advance should I book?
Parties book up quickly! Try and book your party at least a month in advance to ensure your specific time and date. However, we will always try and accommodate last minute requests.
How do you screen your performers?
Every employee of Super Parties is required to submit an annual Police Clearance check filed with the West Australian Police Department.
They're not only welcome, their encouraged! In our experience, some of the biggest super hero experts around are girls. We've even done a few all-girl parties in our day!
Does my event have to be a birthday party?
Nope! We've made appearances at all sorts of events! Just let us know what you have in mind when your booking.
We do! Tips are always super appreciated, but never expected. If you do decide to tip your performer, we suggest it be done discreetly at the end of the party as he makes his way out.
If for whatever reason you are not 100% satisfied with your party, or in the super unlikely event that we are forced to cancel or postpone your event, we will offer a full refund or party credit.
